LEXINGTON, Kentucky – After a standout senior campaign, senior hitter Eileen Shi (San Francisco, Calif.) has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team All-Region honoree.
The All-Region honor is the second in the standout career for the California native, who was also named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year on Wednesday.
In 2018, Shi was once again the Beacons top hitter with a team and conference leading 369 kills and 3.97 kills per set. Now ranked third all-time in program history in kills, Shi became just the third player in program history to also finish with over 1,000 digs. Also, one the conference's top servers, Shi closed out her final season on the harbor campus averaging 0.82 aces per set.
On the year, Shi hit .222 and started in all 26 matches for UMB. Her 196 digs were second most on the roster, while she also finished fourth on team in total blocks with 17 (3 bs, 14 ba).
