GORHAM, Maine -- Freshman midfielder Jackie
Kelly (Brunswick, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine
women's lacrosse team was among the 16 first-year players named to
the Synapse Sports (formerly womenslacrosse.com) Division III
All-Rookie Squad. The All-Rookie squad, All-America teams and
individual postseason awards were announced today.
The Little East Conference Rookie of the Year, Kelly was the conference leader in caused turnovers per game (1.95), and ranked second in ground balls per game (3.74). She made an immediate impact on the Huskies' lineup scoring 22 goals and recording six assists for 28 points in 19 games. Kelly led the Huskies collecting 71 ground balls, 44 draw controls, and 37 caused turnovers.
Kelly had a season-high four points twice during the season, including against Eastern Connecticut in the regular-season finale. She scooped up a season-best nine ground ball at Plymouth State, and also controlled a season-high eight draws against Eastern Connecticut, while causing a season-best seven turnovers against Rhode Island College.
The Huskies finished the season 8-11 overall and 4-2 in the conference. They were the third seed for the championship tournament, and reached the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Keene State College.
