NEW ORLEANS – The UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team will head to the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships as the eighth-ranked team in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This is the second straight week the Corsairs have held the No. 8 spot in the ranking.
UMass Dartmouth's throwers lead the way. Senior Jared Louf-Woods' (Salem, Mass.) hammer throw of 62.45 meters at Bryant University's Black & Gold Invitational in March ranks second in the nation, while his New England Alliance meet-record shot put toss of 16.81 meters ranks fifth in the country. Junior Steve Tencati (Clinton, Mass.) and sophomore Jordan Entwhistle (Northborough, Mass.) rank fifth and sixth in DIII in the javelin with respective throws of 66.49 meters and 66.34 meters, while John Kleczkowski (North Attleboro, Mass.) ranks 26th with his toss of 58.82 meters.
Sophomore George Papoulis (Haverhill, Mass.) is ranked second in the 800-meter run after posting a time of 1:50.03 at the New England Championships. Freshman Moisse Irizarry (Peabody, Mass.) is ranked 32nd in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 14.75 seconds, which was turned in at the New England Division III Championships.
