NEW ORLEANS – The UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team moved up two spots to a program-best No. 8 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.
Sophomore George Papoulis (Haverhill, Mass.) turned in the second-fastest time in Division III in the 800-meter run at the New England Championships this past weekend. His mark of 1:50.03 was just 0.03 seconds back of the winning time turned in by Hugo Arlabosse of Division II Franklin Pierce.
Senior Jared Louf-Woods' (Salem, Mass.) hammer throw of 62.45 meters at Bryant University's Black & Gold Invitational in March continues to be the top mark in the nation, while his New England Alliance meet-record shot put toss of 16.81 meters ranks fifth in the country. Junior Steve Tencati (Clinton, Mass.) and sophomore Jordan Entwhistle (Northborough, Mass.) rank fifth and sixth in DIII in the javelin with respective throws of 66.49 meters and 66.34 meters.
The Corsairs will wrap up the 2018 regular season Saturday at MIT's Last Chance Meet before competing at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships May 24-26 at the SPIRE Institute in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
