Eastern Connecticut State Wins Little East Presidents’ Cup for 2016-17
June 23, 2017PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Eastern Connecticut State University has won its third consecutive Little East Conference Presidents’ Cup for its overall academic performance during the 2016-17 season. The Warriors registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.12 for both the fall 2016 and spring 2017 academic calendar. -
Eastern Connecticut State Wins LEC Commissioner’s Cup
June 14, 2017PAWTUCKET, R.I. – For the first time in the 17-year history of the Little East Conference Commissioner’s Cup, the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors claimed the league’s top honor for overall institutional performance on the competitive playing field. The Warriors accumulated a point average of 5.735 in the 2016-17 season. -

Strahorn Named Plymouth State Basketball Coach
August 02, 2010PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University has filled the vacancy in its men’s basketball office with the announcement of a new head coach to take over the Panther program. Damien Strahorn, an assistant coach at Columbia University the past four years, has been named the 12th head coach in the 64-year history of the Panther men’s basketball program. Strahorn is a former all-star player at Colby College in Maine, where he also served four years as an assistant coach before joining the staff at Columbia. Strahorn takes over from John Scheinman, who stepped down in May to take a position in PSU’s Advancement office. -

Tyler Kathan Signs Professional Basketball Contract To Play in England
August 06, 2009KEENE, N.H. -- Former Keene State College men's basketball player Tyler Kathan, signed a contract to split time between the Leicester Warriors and the Northampton Neptunes of the England Basketball League (EBL) Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors will make the transition from Division II to Division I, while the Neptunes compete in Division II for the 2009-2010 season. The Ludlow, Vermont native isn't nervous about going to play in England and has his family's blessing too. "I'm just really excited," said Kathan. -

December 02, 2008INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Division III men's basketball NCAA Tournament is expanding from 59 to 60 teams this season, according to a memo the association sent Division III member schools this afternoon. This means four teams will receive first-round byes, instead of the previous five. The number of teams in the tournament is a ratio of the number of Division III member schools that sponsor men's basketball and is set as one tournament spot for every 6.5 programs.

August 12, 2008PROVIDENCE, R.I.Former Rhode Island College guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, Maine) has signed on to play professionally with Lemvig Basket of the First Division in Denmark. Durgin starred at RIC from 2003-07, playing in a school record 115 games, starting 98 of them. He totaled 1,290 career points, 472 rebounds, 308 assists and 131 steals. February 24, 2007PROVIDENCE,R.I.Top-seeded Rhode Island College defeated second-seeded Keene State College, 87-75, in the Championship Game of the 2007 Little East Conference Mens Basketball Tournament. It is the first Little East title in the programs history and the Anchormen will be dancing into the NCAA Div. III Mens Basketball Tournament for the first time in 28 years (1979). Head Coach Bob Walshs team is 24-3 overall, matching the school record for the most wins in the programs history, previously established by the 1968-69 edition. -

January 10, 2007PROVIDENCE, R.I.Rhode Island College senior guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, Maine) was named to the Eastern College Athletics Conference (ECAC) honor roll for his impressive performances during the week ending Jan. 7. Less than twenty-four hours earlier, Durgin was selected as the Little East Conference Mens Basketball Player of the Week by the conference office. He averaged 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 65 minutes of action. -
