Westfield State’s Goulet, Worcester State’s Hopkins Earn NFHCA Weekly Honors

GILBERT, Ariz. – A pair of Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey standouts followed up their league Athlete of the Week honors by earning a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III national honorable mention listing.

Worcester State senior Rachel Hopkins led the Lancers to a pair of non-conference victories last week as racked up four goals and one assist for a nine-point week. She opened the week with a hat trick and an assist in a 4-1 win over Wellesley on Thursday, and added another goal in a 5-0 win over Mount Holyoke on Saturday. Hopkins scored the game-winning goal in both matches for 4-0 Worcester State. 

Westfield State sophomore Riley Goulet backstopped the Owls to a pair of shutout victories last week that improved their 2019 record to 3-1. She posted six saves in a 3-0 win over Simmons before making four stops in a 1-0 win over Rivier. Goulet is now 3-1 for the season with a .711 save percentage and 27 total stops for the year.
