PAWTUCKET, R.I. – A pair of Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey student-athletes land on the Synapse Sports NCAA Division III Honor Roll for the week ending October 9, Fitchburg State's Chloe Gladu (North Reading, Mass.) and Worcester State's Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.).
Gladu, who was also named LEC Defensive Player of the Week, leading the Falcons to a 3-0 record that week in which they allowed just two goals and posted a 3-0 shutout against UMass Dartmouth. Her defensive save against the Corsairs in the 31st-minute helped preserve the clean sheet. Fitchburg State also notched a 2-1 non-conference win at Rivier and a 2-1 LEC victory over Southern Maine.
Hopkins, the reigning LEC Goalkeeper of the Week and LEC Rookie of the Week, went 3-0 in the cage with a 0.73 goals against average and a .867 save percentage for the Lancers, stopping 13 of the 15 shots on goal she faced over 192:18. She turned away eight shots on goal in a 3-1 conference won over Keene State, had one save and no goals against over 52:18 of a 5-1 non-conference win over Anna Maria and registered four stops in a 4-1 LEC victory over Eastern Connecticut.
