CHANDLER, Ariz. - Bridgewater State senior midfielder Samantha Hayes (Norwood, Mass.) earned a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and Synapse Sports national honor rolls after totaling six goals, including two game-winners, and four assists for 16 points in a 3-0 week for the Bears.
The reigning Little East Conference (LEC) Offensive Player of the Week assisted on a goal in a 2-1 win over Worcester State before scoring three goals and assisting on two others in a 5-2 non-conference win over Anna Maria. She capped the week with her second straight hat trick and with one assist in a 5-3 conference triumph at Salem State. Hayes enters today's (October 3, 2018) action ranked third in the LEC in goals (12) and total points (28) this season.
Hayes is the third LEC player to earn a spot on the NFHCA Honor Roll this season, joining Keene State's Kayla Klein (September 20) and Worcester State's Michaila Parent (September 12). She is the fourth LEC player to honored by Synapse Sports in 2018, along with Castleton's Sarah Wells (Honor Roll, September 26), Keene State's Rachel Loseby (Honor Roll, September 12) and Southern Maine's Samantha Ellis (Rookie of the Week, September 12).
