Synapse Sports Weekly Awards for September 13, 2018

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – A pair of Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey student-athletes were honored by Synapse Sports for their respective performances last week. Southern Maine's Samantha Ellis was named the national Rookie of the Week, while Loseby earned a spot on the Honor Roll.

Ellis, the reigning LEC Rookie of the Week, totaled three goals and two assists for eight points to help lead the Huskies to a 3-0 record last week. She was credited with an assist in Southern Maine's 3-0 win at Maine-Farmington for her first collegiate point and then scored two goals with one assist in a 7-1 LEC victory over Salem State; her first career goal was the Huskies' second of the game and proved to be the difference maker. Ellis capped the week by scoring the game-winner in the 67th minute of a 2-1 non-conference win over Manhattanville.

Loseby totaled 20 saves while posting a 1.06 goals against average and .909 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Owls. She notched 12 saves in a 2-1 overtime win at Lasell before stopping eight shots in a 5-2 victory at Springfield. Loseby is now 3-0 this season with a 1.04 goals against average and a .871 save percentage after stopping 25 of the 28 shots on goal she's faced this season.
