PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Little East Conference announced the 2016-17 Spring All-Academic teams today, honoring 234 student-athletes in its seven spring championship sports, baseball, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s outdoor track & field, women’s outdoor track & field, softball and men’s tennis.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Eastern Connecticut State University has won its third consecutive Little East Conference Presidents’ Cup for its overall academic performance during the 2016-17 season. The Warriors registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.12 for both the fall 2016 and spring 2017 academic calendar.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – For the first time in the 17-year history of the Little East Conference Commissioner’s Cup, the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors claimed the league’s top honor for overall institutional performance on the competitive playing field. The Warriors accumulated a point average of 5.735 in the 2016-17 season.
APPLETON, Wis. – A walk-off error in the bottom of the ninth inning gave North Central College (IL) a 5-4 win as they eliminated 17th/19th ranked UMass Boston from the 2017 Division III College World Series Sunday afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium at Neuroscience Group Field.
Eastern Connecticut State's Alex Zachary earned D3baseball.com First Team All-America honors while Southern Maine's Dylan Hapworth garnered Third Team and UMass Boston's Chris Fowler grabbed Honorable Mention All-America status.
The 2017 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee.
PAWTUCKET. R.I. – The UMass Boston Beacons has earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Baseball College World Series after winning the New England Regional last weekend. The Beacons will be back in action to face off against North Central (IL) on Friday, May 26 for a 4:30 p.m.
The 2017 D3baseball.com All-Region teams have been announced. The 2017 season marks the sixth year that D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams, with 800 players nominated. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region, as well as D3baseball.com staff and contributors.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Little East Conference announced its 2017 Baseball All-Conference Teams and Major Awards as voted on by the eight LEC head coaches. The Southern Maine Huskies edged out UMass Boston to claim the 2017 Little East Conference regular season championship by one game, the program’s 12th LEC regular season title and sixth straight.
The Beacons will face Penn-State Berks, who are the eight-seed, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 in the New England Region and the Huskies are the second seed in the six-team, double-elimination New York Regional and will face Castleton University in Game Two on Thursday (2:30 p.m.).

There are also numerous figures that have shaped the course of the athletics programs with the work they have done. But few have done both to such a large degree as Al Bean.

Member schools have won a combined six National Championships, with three coming after the conference began sponsoring baseball in 1996. GORHAM, Maine – In recognition of his more than three-decades long service to the University of Southern Maine and his exceptionally successfully coaching career at the charge of the Huskies’ baseball team, veteran head coach Ed Flaherty, now in his 32nd season at USM, will receive the one honor that he has not yet collected in his outstanding career, when the University of Southern Maine and the Department of Athletics renames the baseball field in his honor on April 30 prior to the Huskies’ game against Western New England College.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – University of Southern Maine’s head baseball coach Ed Flaherty has been leading one of the most successful and widely respected baseball programs in the nation. As he enters his 32nd season at the helm for the Huskies, Flaherty has accumulated a career record of 940-422-4 and captured two NCAA Division III Baseball National Championships in eight College World Series appearances.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Little East Conference was developed as a basketball only conference in 1986 and baseball didn’t become an official Little East Conference sponsored sport until 1997. The Little East Conference inherited several great baseball programs, including Eastern Connecticut State and the University of Southern Maine and the two programs made a historic statement by putting the Little East Conference on the baseball map after winning back-to-back national championships in 1997 and 1998.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – When researching New England baseball, it is near impossible to not come across the historic success obtained by former Eastern Connecticut State head baseball coach, Bill Holowaty. Coach Holowaty retired following his 45th season as head coach in 2013 with an overall record of 1,404-525-7 and four NCAA Division III National Championships.

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The 2017 Little East Conference baseball preseason poll has been released by the conference office with the defending regular season champions, UMass Boston Beacons garnering six first place votes for 55 points named the 2017 favorites to win the Little East title.
