Henry Named To Academic All-District Team

GORHAM, Maine -- For the second straight year, University of Southern Maine senior designated hitter-pitcher Collin Henry (Penobscot, Maine) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District One baseball first team for the College Division.

Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) voted for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team. CoSIDA selects Academic All-America ® teams for University and College Divisions in 12 programs: football, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s track & field/cross country, men’s and women’s at large. Athletes named to the Academic All-District first team become eligible for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America ® honors.

Henry is a communication major with a 3.73 cumulative grade point average (GPA). To be eligible for nomination by a CoSIDA member at their institution, the player must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 at his/her present institution, participate in at least 50 percent of the team’s games, and have completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

Heading into this weekend's final regular season doubleheader against Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut State University, Henry is batting 375 (54 for 144) with 33 runs scored, 15 doubles, six home runs and 42 RBI. He leads the Huskies in double, home runs and RBI. On the hill, Henry has fashioned a 5-2 record, including one shutout, with a 3.25 ERA. He has worked 61 innings allowing 56 hits and 22 walks while striking out 56.
