Men's and Women's Cross Country Weekly Award Winners: Week 1

MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Sam Brunnette (Newport, Vt.), Junior, Plymouth State

Brunnette was the runner-up at the Bowdoin Invitational, crossing the 8K course's finish line in 26:09.5 to pace the Panthers to a third-place overall finish. The junior took first the week before at the PSU Short Course Opener, leading Plymouth State to the team title on the 6K course with his time of 19:34.

 

WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Kassandrah Banks, (Wethersfield, Conn.), Senior, Eastern Connecticut

Banks placed 34th in a field of 299 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Invitational Saturday after posting a personal record time of 19:29. She was the second finisher among 37 Little East competitors.

 

MEN'S ROOKIE RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Bruno Pires (New Bedford, Mass.), Freshman, UMass Dartmouth

Pires registered a 22nd place finish at his home UMass Dartmouth Invitational, crossing the line in 26:10, placing him first among Little East Conference

finishers.

 

WOMEN'S ROOKIE RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Shayna Cousineau (Cranson, R.I.), Freshman, Rhode Island College

Cousineau was the Anchorwomen's top finisher in her collegiate debut, placing 26th  with a time of 19:17.99 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
