NEW ORLEANS – A total of five Little East Conference (LEC) men's and women's cross country programs were named recipients of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Team All-Academic Award for 2017. Additionally, a pair of student-athletes were received the USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic award in recognition of their combined academic and NCAA regional championship performance.
The men's and women's programs from Keene State College and Plymouth State University, and the women's program from the University of Southern Maine were named recipients of the team award, which requires a team have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or higher and have recorded a team score at the regional championship.
Southern Maine sophomore Chandler Vincent (Pownal, Maine) and freshman Zach Hoyle (Sidney, Maine) received the individual award for having finished in the top-25 percent of regional entrants and maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30. They placed 17th and 82nd at the regional, respectively.
Hoyle and Vincent helped lead the Huskies' men's cross country program to the 2017 LEC title and a 10th-place finish among the 55 scoring teams at the NCAA regional championship. Southern Maine's women's program finished fourth at the LEC championship and 41st at the regional.
