Cyr Places 6th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – University of
Southern Maine senior Gabby Cyr (Fort Kent, Maine)
led all Little East Conference harriers this afternoon at the
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Women’s Cross Country
Invitational, placing sixth overall in the 310-person field. The
UMass Dartmouth Invitational is the longest standing cross country
race in New England.
Keene State College ranked among the leaders in the overall team
standings, finishing sixth out of 41 teams with 196 total
points.
Cyr covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 18 minutes and 39
seconds to edge out UMass Lowell’s Christina Dalomba by a
second for sixth place. The Huskies place 15th overall in the team
standings with 428 points.
Freshman Natalie Ferro (Dennis, Mass.) was the
first Owl to cross the finish line, placing 31st overall (19:15).
Sophomore Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) was just
nine seconds off Ferro’s pace to secure the 35th spot,
while junior Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.),
freshman Heather Pierce (Buckland, Mass.), and
freshman Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) finished in
consecutive order to round out Keene State’s top-five
scorers.
Rhode Island College (27th, 786) and Eastern Connecticut State
University (35th, 1001) also competed as a team.
