Track Athlete of the Week
Emily Artesani (Orono, Maine), Sophomore, University of
Southern Maine
Artesani set a pair of school records and won the 400 meters to
help the University of Southern Maine to a 12th place finish at the
Division III New England Championships. The Orono, Maine product
captured the 400 meters crown in a time of 58.05 seconds, and
placed second in the 200 meters crossing the finish line in 25.65
seconds. Artesani her week-old 400 meter record of 58.33 set at the
Little East Conference Championships, while shaving .03 seconds off
her 200 meters time, set at the 2007 NEIcAAA
Championships.
Field Athlete of the Week
Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.), Senior, Keene State
College
Blamy continued to add to her impressive outdoor track and field
resume this past weekend at the Division III New England
Championships. The senior from Walpole, N.H. captured the high jump
event with a leap of 5'-5.00".
Rookie Athlete of the Week
Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, R.I.), Freshman, Rhode Island
College
DiBlasi placed 18th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:09.78), 10th
in the 4X400 meter relay (4:19.38), and 15th in the 4X100 meter
relay (53.31) at the Division III New England Championship.
Field Athlete of the Week
Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State
College
Brown placed fourth in the shot put event at the Division III New
England Championships this past week with a mark of 38'-11.75".
