4 Rhode Island College runners earn All-New England honors
NEW LONDON, Conn.— The Rhode Island
College women’s outdoor track and field team placed 18th (28
teams) with a score of 10.0 at the New England Div. III
Championships, hosted by Coast Guard May 1-3.
Junior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, R.I.) earned
All-New England honors in the high jump, placing third with a
1.55-meter effort. She also placed 10th as part of the 4x400 meter
relay with a time of 4:19.38.
Sophomore Brooke Iby (Dracut, Mass.) earned
All-New England honors in the triple jump, placing eighth with a
10.47-meter effort. She also placed 10th as part of the 4x400 meter
relay with a time of 4:19.38 and 15th as part of the 4x100 meter
relay, which finished 15th with a time of 53.31.
Junior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, R.I.)
earned All-New England honors in the weight throw, placing seventh
at 40.64 meters.
Sophomore Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, R.I.)
earned All-New England honors in the weight throw, placing eighth
at 40.39 meters. She narrowly missed All-N.E. honors in the discus,
placing ninth at 33.55 meters.
Rhode Island College returns to action over the weekend at the New
England Open Championships, hosted by the University of New
Hampshire.
