Track Athlete of
the Week.
Emily Artesani (Orono, Maine), Junior, University of
Southern Maine
Artesani helped Southern Maine sweep the Little East Conference
and New England Alliance team titles for the ninth consecutive year
on Saturday. The Orono, Maine product won the 200 meters (27.09)
and 400 meters (1:00.98) in both the Little East and Alliance meet,
while raising the conference trophy in the 55-meter dash
(7.69).
Field Athlete of
the Week
Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, R.I.), Senior, Rhode Island
College
Fleming earned All- New England Alliance honors in five events on
Saturday. She placed first in both the high jump (1.60m) and 600
meters (1:41.79), while finishing second in the 1,000 meters
(3:09.01). She also placed sixth in the long jump (4.92m).
Rookie Track Athlete of the Week
Haley Lydstone (Bedford, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State
College
Lydstone placed second in the 600 meters at the Little East/New
England Alliance Championships, covering the course in a time of
1:44.81. She was also a member of the Owls' winning 4x400 relay
(4:17.20).
Rookie Field
Athlete of the Week
Bethany Dumas (Augusta, Maine), Freshman,
University of Southern Maine
Dumas won the pole vault at the New England Alliance and Little
East Conference Championships by clearing a school and meet record
height of 3.66 meters (12-0). Her height improves her NCAA Division
III provisional qualifying mark by five inches. Dumas also scored
in the 200 meters (seventh in the Alliance, second in the LEC) with
her time of 27.51, and in the long jump (sixth in LEC).
