Track Athlete of the Week

Brooke Iby (Dracut, Mass.), Junior, Rhode Island College

Iby won the 55-meter dash this past weekend at the Coast Guard Invitational, crossing the finish line at 8.12. The native of Dracut, Mass. also placed second in the triple jump (9.81m), while combining with her teammates to take first and second in the 4X200 and 4X400 meter relay, respectively. The Anchorwomen captured the overall team championship.

Field Athlete of the Week

Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, R.I.), Senior, Rhode Island College

Fleming earned a pair of individual victories at the Coast Guard Invitational this past weekend. The Pawtucket, R.I. product leaped 1.51 meters to win the high jump event, while pacing the mile field with a time of 5:45.27.

Rookie Track Athlete of the Week

Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State College

Competing at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, Titus won the 800-mer race with a time of 2:26.60. Keene State finished fifth in the 7-team field with 45 points.

Rookie Field Athlete of the Week

Bethany Dumas (Augusta, Maine), Freshman, University of Southern Maine
Dumas won the pole vault at the Sorlein Invitational held at the University of Rhode Island. The meet featured schools from all three NCAA divisions. Dumas cleared a season-best 3.53 meters (11-7) to win the event and improve her NCAA provisional qualifying mark. She also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.82 meters (15-9 3/4), and posted a time of 9.18 seconds (11th quickest) in the trials of the 55-meter hurdles.
