Nathans, Cappellieri named to NSCAA All-America teams

DANBURY, Conn. - Junior forward
Catherine Nathans (New Fairfield, Conn.) and
senior keeper Jenna Cappellieri (Stratford, Conn.)
have been named to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas Women's NCAA
Division III All-America Team.
Nathans, WestConn's first ever First Team All-American, led the
Colonials and the Little East Conference with 17 goals and seven
assists for 41 total points. She was named to the NSCAA
All-America Third Team in 2006.
Cappellieri, a Third Team selection, registered 11 shut outs and
had an impressive 0.63 goals-against average. She made 101
saves and had an .871 save percentage.
The Colonials advanced to the NCAA Division III National
Championships Final Four in Buena Vista, FL last month before
falling to eventual champion Wheaton College (IL), 1-0 in the
semifinal match.
Among the 34 players selected in voting by NSCAA member coaches,
12 were honored in on the NSCAA All-American Team in previous
season. Among them was a three-time choice, Dana DiBruno
(College of New Jersey/Cherry Hill, N.J.), who earned first-team
honors. Only four schools placed more than one player on the
team. Western Connecticut State University,
Messiah College, Wheaton (Ill.) College and Wittenberg each had two
players chosen. Wheaton, the national champion, was represented by
senior defender Bethany Barton (Wheaton, Ill.), who earned her
second honor, and sophomore forward Jael Hagerott (St. Charles,
Ill.).
