Gavin garners ECAC All-New England accolade

PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Rhode Island College
senior attacker Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) was
recently named Second Team All-New England by the Eastern College
Athletic Conference (ECAC) for her performance in women’s
lacrosse this past spring. Gavin is the first student-athlete in
the program’s seven-year history to earn a place on the
All-Region team.
A four-year starter, Gavin paced the Little East Conference for the
third consecutive season averaging 3.71 goals-per-game. A prolific
scorer, she led the Anchorwomen in goals (52), assists (10), and
points (62). Gavin collected at least four points in seven
contests, while racking up eight hat tricks in 14 appearances. On
April 9, she registered a season-high 13 points, scoring eight
goals and handing out five helpers, in a convincing win at Elms
College.
The most decorated student-athlete in the program’s history,
Gavin is a four-time First Team All-Little East Conference
selection, was the 2007 Little East Conference Co-Offensive Player
of the Year and a three-time team Most Valuable Player Award
recipient. She will depart from campus as the all-time leader in
goals (279), assists (45), points (324), ground balls (339), draw
controls (291), and caused turnovers (107).
Rhode Island College completed the season with a 3-11 overall
record, including a 1-5 mark in the Little East Conference. The
Anchorwomen qualified for the Little East Conference Tournament for
just the second time in the program’s history in 2007.
