March 7, 2010 KEENE, N.H. - The top seeded Keene State College women's basketball team had to work overtime to defeat rival and sixth seed Plymouth State University 69-68 and capture its first ECAC Division III New England Tournament Championship on Sunday. But no one was complaining, especially Keene State's five seniors, who got to finish their careers at home with the regional title. "This is just an amazing feeling. The five seniors worked so hard," said senior Kristin Degou (Newburyport, Mass.), who was named the tournament's most outstanding player. It's a great culmination to our careers." |

March 5, 2010 BRUNSWICK, Maine The Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships following its 59-41 victory over University of New England, at Bowdoin College, on Friday night. The Colonials, now 23-5, will take on the winner of the second first round game, between host Bowdoin and Baruch College, Saturday at 7 pm. Junior center Melissa Teel (Hamden, Conn.) missed out on her 24th double-double of the season, scoring nine points, but cleaned up on the glass, gathering 19 rebounds for the winners. . |

Four players scored in double-digits to lead a balanced attack as the University of Southern Maine Huskies defeated the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers 74-63 in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Womens Basketball National Championship Tournament at Amherst Colleges LeFrak Gymnasium Friday evening. With the win, Southern Maine advances to the second round of the NCAA Championship and improves its overall record to 21-8. Rensselaer Polytechnic concludes its season with a 17-11 record. |
