Eastern's McFetridge WBCA All-America Selection

Eastern Connecticut State University's Ashley
McFetridge (Canton, Conn.) has been selected to the
ten-person Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) Division
III State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
McFetridge becomes Eastern's sixth selection to the team, but only
the third different individual. She joins Robin
Gaby in 1990 and the nation's only four-time selection --
Allison Coleman between 2001 and 2004.
A 6-foot-2 inch post player, McFetridge was one only ten players
nationwide chosen to the team. A total of 42 players - representing
eight all-region teams from throughout the country - were eligible
for consideration.
Eight of the All-America selectees were seniors, among then
National Player-of-the-Year Hillary Klimowicz of The College of New
Jersey. McFetridge was one of two players chosen to the All-America
team from Region I (New England). She was the only player from the
Little East Conference named to the five-person Region I team.
So far this year, McFetridge has been named to the New England
Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) All-New England first team,
and to the NEWBA Senior Classic.and repeated as an all-region pick
and as Little East Conference Player-of-the-Year. She was also
named to the all-conference first team and to the All-Defensive
Team for the third year in a row and earned a spot on the LEC
Winter All-Academic Team for the second time in her second year of
eligibility. She led the conference in points (404) and was third
in scoring average (13.9) and rebounding average (8.1) and second
in field goal percentage (.502) and blocked shots (1.8).
McFetridge completed her 107-game career ranked fourth all-time in
career points (1,364), first in blocks (158), sixth in
rebounds (777) and tied for ninth in games. She helped Eastern to
three 20-wins seasons and an overall record of 86-27 (.761).
Eastern won 25 and lost four this year and captured the LEC regular
season title. The Warriors earned an at-large berth to the NCAA
Division III tournament, their 12th appearance in
program history.
