Kania Earns 3 Weekly Award

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Plymouth State
University sophomore forward Amanda Kania (Manchester,
N.H.) was named to the D3Hoops.com Team and the Week and
the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III
Co-Player of the week after leading the Panthers to a 1-1 week.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Kania was honored as the Little East
Conference Player of the Week for her performance on the women's
basketball court for the week ending Feb. 15.
Kania averaged 27 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of Little East
Conference games for the Panthers. She set a career-high 34
points in a conference victory at UMass-Boston on Feb. 14,
connecting on 12-of-19 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from the
three-point line. Earlier in the week, Kania posted her
fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds
in a loss at Keene State. She shot 55.6 percent from the
field, 57.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 90.9 percent from the
charity stripe in 50 combined minutes of action.
Kania ranks among the Little East leaders in scoring (6th, 12.8
ppg) and rebounding (10th, 6.1 rpg). A starter in 17 of her 23
games, she has reached double figures in scoring 16
times. Kania scored at least 20 points five times, including
becoming just the second student-athlete in the conference circuit
to net 30-plus points.
Plymouth State University (15-8, 5-7 LEC) returns to action
tonight at 5:30 p.m., when the Panthers host Little East Conference
foe University of Southern Maine (18-5, 8-4) at Foley
