Degou Named District Academic All-America

KEENE, N.H. – Keene State’s Kristin Degou has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women’s basketball team announced on Wednesday. A first-team selection, Degou’s name is now placed on the national ballot.

“It’s a great honor,” said Degou, a junior biology major from Newburyport, Mass. “I always had high expectations for myself since my freshman year. I had a goal to get real good grades and get the most out of my ability as a student and an athlete. They are both equally important to me.”

“Kristin is the epitome of student athlete,” said KSC Coach Keith Boucher. She has a great work ethic and displays that in the classroom and on the court.”

A three-year starting guard for the Owls (16-4), Degou leads Keene State in scoring (13.4 ppg.) and blocks (1.05 bpg.), and is second in rebounding (4.9 rpg.). She also has put up impressive numbers in the classroom with a 3.88 cumulative GPA.

After receiving her degree, Degou plans on attending grad school and working in the medical field.
