DANBURY, Conn. – Becca Stein (Kingston, N.Y.) set a new school record with 14 total blocks as Western Connecticut State University defeated Mount Ida College, 3-1 on Wednesday night at Feldman Arena. Game scores were, 25-12, 25-13, 24-26 and 25-18. The Colonials won their fourth straight match and are now 17-7 on the season.

Stein, who was used sparingly in the third game, broke an 11-year old record previously held by Taylor Kulpanwoski when she had eight blocks against Plymouth State College on Oct. 25, 1997.

Sophomore setter Samantha Hathaway (Milford, Conn.) handed out 36 assists in three games against the Mustangs.

On defense, the Colonials were led by Kelley Collins (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Chrissy Bell (Prospect, Conn.) who had 24 and 17 digs, respectively.

Natalie Crosby (East Haven, Conn.) led the way at the net for the winners as she put away 10 kills.

Mount Ida, which drops to 15-12 on the season, was led by Amanda Pereira (New Bedford, Mass.) and Cherie Parisi (South Attleboro, Mass.) who had 10 and seven kills, respectively.

Stephanie Saito (West Linn, Ore.) had 24 digs and Cody Fusco (San Francisco, Calif.) contributed 21 assists in the loss.

The Colonials travel to Rhode Island College for a Little East Conference tri-match this Saturday, Nov. 1. They will take on UMass Boston at noon before facing the Anchorwomen at 2 pm. The LEC Tournament begins next Tuesday, November 4 with the Play-In Round.

Senior Jaime Floryan (Staatsburg, N.Y.) was honored prior to the start of the match. She is the only senior on WestConn's roster and was recognized by Head Coach Greg Poole in a five-minute ceremony.
