Keene State Sweeps Anchorwomen; Capture Top Seed In Little East Tournament

KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State women's
volleyball team swept Rhode Island College (3-0) at Spaulding Gym
on Saturday to post its second straight undefeated Little East
Conference season. The Owls won the regular season championship and
earned home court advantage throughout the upcoming Little East
Conference Tournament.
Keene State (22-8, 6-0) has won 13 consecutive conference matches
over the past three seasons. The Anchorwomen are the last club to
defeat the Owls in Little East play, handing Keene State a 3-2 loss
on Oct. 21, 2006 at the University of Southern Maine.
The Owls overpowered Rhode Island College, prevailing 25-14,
25-17 and 25-10 to post their fourth straight-set conference
victory this season.
Sisters Brittany and Bridget O'Bryant
(Merrimack, N.H.) led the way for the owls with 11 kills
each. Freshman Kristen Girard (Red Hook, N.Y.) had
nine kills and 10 digs and junior libero Sarah Peterson
(Danville, N.H.) finished with 12 digs.
Keene State returns to action at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28, when the Owls
host Colby-Sawyer College. Rhode Island College (8-18, 0-4
LEC) will travel to Connecticut College the following
evening at 7 p.m.
