Christie Lotti named NFCA All-American

Salem, Va. — Rhode Island College senior first baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford, Conn.) was named a Second Team All-American for her performance in softball this season. Lotti received the award at the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament National Championship Banquet, held at the Civic Center in Salem, Virginia on Thursday evening.

For the second straight season, Rhode Island College has had a student-athlete represented on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American teams. Lotti joins pitcher Nicole Riley '07 (North Providence, R.I.) as a second team selection.

Already highly decorated, Lotti has been named First Team All-New England, garnered her third consecutive Little East Conference Player of the Year award and fourth straight First Team All-LEC selection. She has played in 43 games, starting all of them, batting .455 (65-for-143) with 56 runs scored (a new RIC record), 10 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 30 RBI and 23 stolen bases. Lotti has walked a team-leading 27 times. She owns a .608 slugging percentage, a .541 on-base percentage and a .982 fielding percentage. Lotti holds 13 Rhode Island College career records and eight single-season marks.

Head Coach Maria Morin’s won the program's second consecutive NCAA New England Regional Softball Championship Tournament, and advanced to the National Championship round. The Anchorwomen completed the campaign with a 36-9 overall record, the third most wins in the a single-season.
