NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. –The Little East Conference office announced its annual men’s cross country major awards this afternoon after a vote by the conference’s coaches. University of Southern Maine senior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine) was named the runner of the year for the second straight season, while University of Massachusetts Dartmouth freshman Jeremy Francisco (Dartmouth, Mass.) was selected as the rookie runner of the year. Keene State’s Peter Thomas was tabbed as the coach of the year, while Rhode Island College earned the inaugural team sportsmanship award.

HIGHLAND HILLS, Ohio – Senior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine) finished 22nd out of an elite field of 276 runners at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country National Championship to become the first ever All-American
for the University of Southern Maine Huskies men’s cross country program.

KEENE, N.H.—Senior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine) became just the third runner in the 13-year history of the New England Alliance men’s cross country championship to repeat as the individual champion, covering the 8-kilometer course at the Owl Athletic Complex in a time of 26 minutes, two seconds this afternoon to lead the University of Southern Maine to the team championship. The Huskies placed five runners in the top-10 of the individual standings to earn the program’s second title in the past three years.
