Plymouth State To Sponsor Cross Country In 2013
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Officials at Plymouth State University have announced that men's and women's cross country have been added as varsity athletic programs, and runners will begin competing for the Panthers in the fall of 2013.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Little East Conference office announced its annual men’s cross country major awards program this afternoon after a vote by the conference’s head coaches. Keene State College senior Kevin Hoyt (Newtown, Conn.) was honored as the Runner of the Year, while University of Massachusetts Dartmouth freshman Ben Girard (Manchester, Mass.) earned Rookie Runner of the Year honors. University of Southern Maine’s Scott Hutchinson was tabbed as the Coach of the Year by his peers, while Eastern Connecticut State University secured the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Southern Maine Edged Keene State For Men's Cross Country Championship
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Southern Maine narrowly defeated rival Keene State College to capture the 2011 Little East Men’s Cross Country Championship this afternoon on a rain soaked course on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The Huskies placed five runners inside the top-10 of the individual standings to edge the Owls, 31-36.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. –The top men’s and women’s runners in the Little East Conference and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference converge on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth for the 15th annual New England Alliance Cross Country Championship on October 29. The women’s 5-kilometer race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., while the men’s 8-kilometer competition will follow approximately an hour later.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Little East Conference office announced its annual men’s cross country major awards for the 2010 season this afternoon following a vote by the conference coaches. Keene State College senior Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.) was named the Runner of the Year. University of Southern Maine earned two of the four major awards as freshman Julian Gazzeloni (Windham, Maine) was selected as the Rookie Runner of the Year and Scott Hutchinson was tabbed as the Coach of the Year. University of Massachusetts Dartmouth rounded out the awards program with the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Huskies Chase Down Owls; Capture Men's Cross Country Championship
KEENE, N.H.—Senior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine) became just the third runner in the 13-year history of the New England Alliance men’s cross country championship to repeat as the individual champion, covering the 8-kilometer course at the Owl Athletic Complex in a time of 26 minutes, two seconds this afternoon to lead the University of Southern Maine to the team championship. The Huskies placed five runners in the top-10 of the individual standings to earn the program’s second title in the past three years.

UMass Dartmouth Men's Cross Country Wins James Earley Invitational
WESTFIELD, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's cross country team finished first at the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park Saturday. The men won their race with 72 points, 24 points ahead of second-place Trinity. Junior Nick Santoro (Shrewsbury, MA/St. John's HS) was the top finisher for the men, finishing seventh in the five mile race in 26:53. Jasud, Gomes Compete at NCAA Cross Country Championship
HANOVER, Ind. -- Junior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine/Mountain Valley) and freshman Alex Gomes (Peabody, Mass.) of the University of Southern Maine men’s cross country team each posted a Top 100 finish Saturday at the NCAA Division III National Championship held at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. Jasud finished 43rd among the 278 finishers while Gomes came home in 97th place overall. Jasud covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25 minutes, 5.35 seconds.

Jasud Captures Maine State Individual Title
CUMBERLAND, Maine -- Junior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine/Mountain Valley) of the University of Southern Maine won his third race of the season Saturday taking the top spot at the 2008 Maine State Men’s Cross Country Championship held at the Twin Brook Complex in Cumberland,Maine. Bowdoin College edged the Huskies by eight points, 34-42, for its fourth consecutive team title. This was the Huskies second straight runner-up finish. Bates College was third with 52 points, and Colby College finished fourth with 153.

Keene State Ranked 11th In Men's Cross Country National Poll
KEENE, N.H. – Keene State College moved up 10 spots to 11th in this week’s U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Men’s Cross Country Poll announced on Thursday. NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – University of Southern Maine junior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine) paced all Little East Conference competitors at the annual University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Men’s Cross Country Invitational this afternoon, placing second overall in a field of 278 runners. Keene State College sat atop the standings with a meet-low 85 total points, finishing 30 points ahead of second place Coast Guard Academy.

Corsairs Harriers Win Mass. Maritime Invitational
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's cross country team couldn't have done any better in their opening meet of the season at Massachusetts Maritime's Travis J. Fuller Invitational Saturday. The Corsair men placed five runners in the top 10 and finished first in an eight-team field with 25 points, 32 points ahead of second-place Mass Maritime. The women did not receive a team score because they only had four runners participate, but two of them finished in the top ten.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the men’s Division III Cross Country Preseason National Rankings on Tuesday and Cortland State was named the top ranked team to start the 2008 season. The Atlantic Region team received all possible first place votes to take top billing.

GORHAM, Maine -- Scott Hutchinson, the head coach of the University of Southern Maine Huskies men's cross country and track and field teams, has been named the Little East Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. The award was announced on Wednesday by the Little East Conference.

Adams and Samuel Set For 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships
KEENE, N.H. - St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., doesn't conjure up good memories for the Keene State College men's cross country team. Back in 2002, the last time the Oles hosted the NCAA Division III championship, KSC All-American Mark Miller became ill the night before the race and the Owls sputtered to a disappointing 12th place finish. The silver lining on the day was the performance of Mary Proulx, who turned in a fourth place finish to garner All-American honors.

Owls' 2nd At ECAC Div. III Men's Cross Country Championship
WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. - Junior Sean Gavaghan (Monroe, Conn.) raced to a sixth place finish to lead the Keene State College men's cross country team to second place at the 2007 ECAC championship held at the Mt. Greylock Regional High School in Williamtown, Mass., on Saturday. Gavaghan, fighting for the final spot on the Owls's varsity, clocked a time of 25:44 on the 8K course. The next three Owl runners finished one after another. Freshman Jeff Trethewey (Merrimack, N.H.) was 12th (26:55), sophomore Jeff Goupil (Barrington, N.H.) was 13th (26:57), and junior Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) finished 14th (27:00).
