Men’s Cross
Country
Runner of the Week
Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine), Senior, University of Southern
Maine
Jasud became just the third runner in the 13-year history of the
New England Alliance men’s cross country championship to
repeat as the individual champion, covering the 8-kilometer course
at the Owl Athletic Complex in a time of 26 minutes, two seconds to
lead the University of Southern Maine to the team championship. The
Huskies placed five runners in the top-10 of the individual
standings to earn the program’s second title in the past
three years.
Rookie Runner of the Week
Jeremy Fransisco (Dartmouth, Mass.), Freshman, University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth
Fransisco finished off an impressive rookie season with a strong
showing at Saturday's New England Alliance and Little East
Conference Championships at Keene State College. The freshman
finished 19th in the conference with a time of 27minutes, 44
seconds in the five mile race.
Women’s
Cross Country
Runner of the Week
Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Me.), Junior, Keene State
College
Chamberlain was the first Little East runner and second overall to
cross the finish line at the 13th annual New England Alliance
Championship this past weekend. The Scarborough, Maine native
covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 18 minutes, 47 seconds
to become the Little East champion. The Owls raised the alliance
and conference team trophy for the 10th consecutive year.
Rookie Runner of the Week
Jennie Foley (Bangor, Maine) Freshman, University of Southern
Maine
Foley was the first freshman to finish at the Little East
Conference championship race placing seventh in the LEC scoring and
eighth overall. Foley covered the 5,000-meter Keene State College
course in 20 minutes, 7 seconds. She helped the Huskies finished
second in both the Little East Conference and New England Alliance
scoring.
