Country
Runner of the
Week
Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine), Junior, University of
Southern Maine
Jasud finished 38th among the 316 finishers at the NEIcAAA New
England Open Championship run at Franklin Park in Boston. Jasud
covered the 4.95-mile course in 25 minutes, 29 seconds. The
Rumford, Maine native was the seventh Division III runner, but
first among Little East competitors to cross the finish line. Jasud
carved more than two minutes off his 2007 time (27:57, 167th
overall) and improved 129 positions in the finishing order.
Rookie of the
Week
Travis Wright (Hanson, Mass.), Freshman, University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth
Wright finished 34th overall in a time of 27 minutes and 55 seconds at James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State. The Hanson, Mass. product was the second UMass Dartmouth runner to cross the finish as the Corsairs' place sixth overall in the 21-team field.

Runner of the
Week
Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.), Junior, Keene State
College
Marcotte was Keene State top finisher and the first Little East
Conference runner to the finish line at the New England
Championship. She placed 71st overall with a time of 19 minutes and
five seconds. The Owls placed 19th in the 45-team field with 566
points to rank seventh among Division III teams.
Rookie of the
Week
Heather Pierce (Buckland, Mass.), Freshman, Keene State
College
Pierce was the Owls' second runner at the New England Championships, covering the course in a time of 19 minutes and 22 seconds. The Buckland, Mass. native finished 92nd overall in the highly competitive field.
