Men's Cross Country

Runner of the Week
Craig McPherson (Derry, N.H.), Sophomore, Keene State College

Racing in his first meet of the season, McPherson was the first Keene State runner to cross finish line at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic. The Derry, N.H. product covered the 8-kilometer course in 27 minutes and two seconds to place 16th overall. The 11th-ranked Owls finished fourth in the highly competitive 18-team field.

Women's Cross Country

Runner of the Week
Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.), Junior, Keene State College

Marcotte was the top finisher for Keene State at the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday. In a field that featured some of the top Division III teams in New England, the Heath, Mass. native placed 35th overall with a time of 24 minutes and 27 seconds. The Owls were ranked fifth in the overall team standings with 174 points.

Rookie of the Week
Heather Pierce (Buckland, Mass.), Freshman, Keene State College

Pierce was the third Keene State runner at the Purple Valley Classic to cross the finish line, completing the course in a time of 24 minutes and 35 seconds. She finished 38th overall in the field, trailing the Owls' top-student-athlete by just eight seconds.
