Men's Cross
Country
Runner of the Week
Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine), Junior, University of
Southern Maine
Jasud paced all Little East Conference competitors at the annual
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Men's Cross Country
Invitational, placing second overall in a field of 278 runners. The
Rumford, Maine product completed the 5-mile course in 25 minutes
and six seconds, trailing the overall winner-Teddy
Vrountas (Northeastern)-by just two seconds.
Rookie of the Week
Alex Gomes (Peabody, Mass.), Freshman, University of
Southern Maine
Gomes turned in a top-15 performance at the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth Invitational, covering the course in a time
of 25 minutes and 28 seconds to earn the 14th overall spot.
Southern Maine placed sixth overall in the team rankings with 178
total points.
Women's Cross
Country
Runner of the Week
Gabby Cyr (Fort Kent, Maine), Senior, University of
Southern Maine
Cyr led all Little East Conference harriers at the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth Women's Cross Country Invitational, placing
sixth overall in the 310-person field. The native of Fort Kent,
Maine covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 18 minutes and 39
seconds to edge out UMass Lowell's Christina Dalomba by a second
for sixth place. Southern Maine placed 15th overall in the team
standings with 428 points.
Rookie of the Week
Natalie Ferro (Dennis, Mass.), Freshman, Keene State College
Ferro was the first Keene State College runner to cross
the finish line at the UMass Dartmouth Women's Cross Country
Invitational. The freshman from Dennis, Mass. was the second Little
East competitor to complete the 5-kilometer course, turning in a
time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds to place 31st overall. The Owls
were ranked sixth in the overall team standings out of 38
teams.
