Track Athlete of the Week

Derek Murchie (Windham, Maine), Senior, University of Southern Maine

Murchie won two events to highlight six first place finishes as the University of Southern Maine Huskies men's outdoor track and field team captured the 2008 Little East Conference Championship Saturday at Rhode Island College. The senior from Windham, Maine claimed titles in the 100 and the 200-meter dashes, winning the 100 in a time of 11.35 seconds and the 200 in 23.19 to lead the Huskies to their first Little East Conference title since 2001 (194 points).

Field Athlete of the Week

Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.), Sophomore, Keene State College


Competing at the New England Alliance/Little East Conference Championships this past weekend at Rhode Island College, Radlof won two field events. The Milford, N.H. product captured the long jump (22'-01.50") and the triple jump (43'-09.00"), while placing second in the 110 hurdles (16.49). 

Rookie Athlete of the Week

Mason Shepard (Portland, Maine), Freshman, University of Southern Maine

Shepard won the 110-meter hurdles at the Little East Conference Championships this past weekend in Providence. The native of Portland, Maine crossed the 110-meter hurdle finish line in a time of 16.16, while placing second in the 400-meter hurdles (56.71). The University of Southern Maine won the conference championships for the first time since 2001.  

Rookie Field Athlete of the Week

Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State College

Kolacz dominated the field events at the Little East Conference Championships, earning first-places finishes in three events. The freshman from Brentwood, N.H. captured both the New England Alliance and Little East Conference Championships in the discus (44.59m) and hammer throw (49.12m), respectively. Kolacz sat atop the conference standings in the shot put (13.85m), but placed second in the Alliance meet.
