Track Athletes of the Week

Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.), Senior, Keene State College


Competing at the New England Division III championships at MIT, Najem covered the 600-meter course in a time of 1:22.92 to place second. He was also a member of the Keene State 4x800 relay team that placed third with a time of 8:05.23. The Owls were eighth in the team standings.

Field Athlete of the Week

Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.), Sophomore, Keene State College


Kolacz continued his outstanding indoor track season by capturing the weight throw event at the Men's New England Division III Track and Field Championships at MIT on Saturday. Kolacz, who has already qualified for the NCAA Division III championships, posted a winning mark of 57'-01.50".

Rookie Track Athlete of the Week

Gerald Arneaud (Dorchester, Mass.), Freshman, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth


Arneaud finished 15th at 400 meters in the New England Division III Championships in 52.12 seconds. The rookie from Dorchester, Mass. ran the anchor leg of the 4 X400 meter relay in 53 seconds to help the Corsairs finished in 3:35.34 for 16th place.

Rookie Field Athlete of the Week

Mattia Zagon (Portland, Maine), Freshman, University of Southern Maine


Zagon finished fourth in the long jump at the New England Division III Championships with a best jump of 6.65 meters (21-10). His finish was the best individual performance for Southern Maine and helped the Huskies post a top-10 finish (10th) in the championship for the fourth straight year.
