Little East Sweeps ECAC Men's Indoor Track Awards

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Little East Conference swept the latest edition of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III weekly awards. Keene State College sophomore Jeff Tretheway (Merrimack, N.H.) was named the Track Athlete of the Week, while University of Southern Maine freshman A.J. Marden (Victory, Vt.) was selected the Field Athlete of the Week.

Tretheway placed third overall in the mile at the highly competitive Harvard Open this past weekend. The Merrimack, N.H. product was the first Little East Conference runner to cross the finish line, covering the track in four minutes, 20.33 seconds in the 52-person field. Tretheway qualified for both the Division III New England Championships and the ECAC Championships.

Marden helped Southern Maine win the Preseason Invitational held at Bowdoin College by winning the triple jump. The native of Victory, Vt. covered 13.32 meters (43-8 1/2) to capture the event as the Huskies posted the top-two distances. Marden's winning jump qualified him for the New England Division III Championships and ECAC Division III Championships.

The Little East Conference and ECAC will resume their weekly awards program on Jan. 5.
