Little East Soccer Represented On ECAC Awards

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Two Little East Conference student-athletes were honored by the weekly Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) awards program this afternoon. Eastern Connecticut State University junior striker Maxim Fantl (West Hartford, Conn.) was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Western Connecticut State University senior Dan Michalowski (Bristol, Conn.) was tabbed the Goalkeeper of the Week. Less than 24 hours earlier, each student-athlete was selected to the Little East weekly awards program.

Fantl scored four of the Warriors' seven goals, two serving as game-winners, to lead Eastern Connecticut to a 3-0 record for the week. The West Hartford, Conn. product registered the game-winning goals against Becker and Bridgewater State College. He netted a week-best two markers against the Hawks, while also adding a goal against Little East Conference foe UMass Boston. Fantl is currently tied atop the conference standings in goals (11), and points (26), while ranking second in game-winning goals (3).

Michalowski allowed just one goal this week to register a 0.45 goals against average and a shutout in 200 minutes of action to backstop the Colonials to a 1-0-1 mark. The senior netminder from Bristol, Conn. notched his seventh shutout of the season against Worcester State on Oct. 8, while making seven stops in a 1-1 double overtime draw against Plymouth State University three days later.

A starter in all 14 matches, Michalowski sports a 1.25 goals against average and a .836 save percentage, while making 92 saves on the season. He has reached double figures in saves twice on the campaign, including a season-high 17 against Eastern Connecticut. Michalowski currently sits atop the conference standings in shutouts with seven, including four straight scoreless matches from Sept. 2 to Sept. 10.

Western Connecticut returns to action at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, when the Colonials travel to Wesleyan University, while Eastern Connecticut will square off at Coast Guard Academy later that evening.
