Kathan Nets ECAC Co-Player of the Week Award

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Keene State College senior
forward Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, Vt.) was named the
Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III
Co-Player of the Week after leading the Owls to victories over
Little East Conference foes Western Connecticut and UMass Boston.
Kathan shared the regional award with Emerson College junior
forward Bryan Rouse (East Greenwich, R.I.).
Kathan averaged 27 points and 7.5 rebounds as Keene State raised
its overall record to 8-6 and 4-1 in the conference circuit. The
Ludlow, Vt. native was white-hot from the field this week,
connecting on 21-of-35 shots (60%) from the field, including
nine-of-17 from behind the three-point arc. Kathan earned his
seventh double-double of the season against the
Colonials on Tuesday, scoring a career-high 36 points, on
15-of-21 from the floor, and pulling in 10 rebounds. He reached
double figures in scoring for the 12th time on the campaign at the
Beacons three days later, scoring 18 points, including four
trifectas.
Kathan has reach double figures in 12 of his past 14 games,
including scoring at least 20 points six times. The 2007 Little
East Conference Player of the Year is shooting 43.6 percent
(89-for-204) from the field, including 38.9 percent from long range
(37-95). A consistent shooter, Kathan has made at least six field
goals nine times, while connecting on at least three triples seven
times on the campaign. He sits atop the Little East Conference
standings in rebounding (9.5 rpg), while ranking second in
three-pointers made (2.5pg) and scoring (16.9).
Keene State College returns to action at 7 p.m. on Jan.
22, when the Owls travel to Lasell College (9-4).
