Shelton Named Division III News Player of the Month

BEAVERTON, Ore.- Junior forward Brandon Shelton (Cambridge, Mass.) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's basketball team has received a national honor.

Shelton has been named Division III Player of the Month for the month of December by Division III News.

Shelton led the Corsairs in scoring during the month of December, averaging 18.4 points per game while making 52.1 per cent of his shots from the field. He also led UMass Dartmouth with 30 rebounds, averaging six per game, with 13 assists, and with five blocked shots in as many contests. He scored a season-best 27 points against Johnson & Wales on December 10th.

"Brandon's award is well-deserved," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Brian Baptiste. "He's been playing well, he's done a great job for us, and he's been getting better as the year goes on."

The Corsairs are 9-1, 2-0 in the LEC. They will return to action when they host Roger Williams on Jan. 7.
