BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Third-seeded Plymouth State State University erased a two-goal second-half deficit Sunday afternoon as the Panthers defeated top-seeded Bridgewater State University, 4-3, in overtime to capture the 2012 ECAC Division III New England Field Hockey Tournament championship.

Plymouth State Earns ECAC Field Hockey Championship
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The third time was the charm on Sunday for the Plymouth State University field hockey team. The Panthers were playing in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Tournament championship game for the third straight season, having lost the previous two by one goal each. PSU was also playing Bridgewater State for the third time this season, all on BSU’s home field, with the Bears winning the first two. Plymouth State, seeded third in the tournament, made the third time count on Sunday, capturing the ECAC championship with a 2-1 victory over top seed and host Bears at Swenson Field.

CAPE COD, Mass. - Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced today the four recipients of the ECAC Award of Valor. This year’s winners are Erin Dallas (Keene State College), Erin Doolan (Springfield College), Merzudin Ibric (Wheaton College), and Kevin Laue (Manhattan College). They will receive their awards at the Honors Banquet on Tuesday, September 28 presented by Jostens. The banquet will be held at The Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis, Mass. during the 2010 ECAC Fall Convention and Trade Show. Established in 1985, the ECAC Award of Valor honors ECAC athletes whose courage, motivation, and relentless determination serves as an inspiration to all.

Keene State Upsets No. 11 Trinity, 2-1
KEENE, N.H. – Led by senior goalie Meghan Ledoux's (Standish, Maine) career-high fifteen saves, the Keene State College field hockey team upset No. 11 ranked Trinity College Bantams 2-1 on Wednesday night at Owl Athletic Complex. "Coming into tonight I knew I was going to have to have a big game," said Ledoux. "Beating a team as high a caliber as Trinity means that we can go out and play with anybody." The Bantams tried to hit the scoreboard first, just over three minutes into the game, as Christy Bradley (Wellesley, Mass.) ripped one of her 16 shots of the game on a breakaway, only to be set aside by Ledoux.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Little East Conference swept the first edition of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England field hockey weekly awards program this afternoon. University of Massachusetts Dartmouth sophomore forward Eleanor Taylor (Fairhaven, Mass.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Framingham State University senior goalkeeper Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Week. Twenty-four hours earlier, Taylor was selected as the conference’s top offensive player, while Kenyon earned the Goalkeeper of the Week award.

UMass Dartmouth Projected As Little East Field Hockey Favorite
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – For the first time in program history, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has been projected to win the Little East field hockey regular-season championship outright, according the 2010 preseason coaches’ poll. The Corsairs received nine of the 12 first-place votes and 140 total points to snap No. 2 Keene State College’s five-year strangle hold as the preseason favorite. UMass Dartmouth and the Owls shared the top position in the 2007 preseason survey. Keene State College and Framingham State University were the only two other teams to eclipse the 100-point barrier in the annual poll.

Benning and Dallas Named To NFHCA All-America Teams
KEENE, N.H.- Keene State College placed two players on the recently announced National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America team. Carly Benning, a senior from Brewster, Mass., was named to the second-team, while Erin Dallas, a senior from Marlow, N.H., was a third-team selection. Dallas was also named to the first-team of the womensfieldhockey.com All-America squad. A first-time All-American, Benning led the Little East Conference in points (58) and goals (27).

Corsairs Draw Middlebury in NCAA Tournament
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - While the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team basks in the glow of its first ever Little East Conference championship, it faces an immense challenge Wednesday in its first round matchup at Middlebury College. The Middlebury Panthers boast the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) #11 national ranking and an 11-4 overall record. Coach Nicole Castonguay's Corsairs will make a 254 mile trek to the Green Mountain State to compete in the program’s first NCAA Tournament field hockey.

UMass Dartmouth Promotes "Play 4 The Cure"
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Several UMass Dartmouth sports teams will be adding some pink to their traditional blue and gold uniforms this month as part of “Play 4 the Cure”, a national public awareness and fundraising campaign for a variety of cancer-related causes. The UMass Dartmouth field hockey team will be the first to wear special home pink home uniforms when the Corsairs host Framingham State College in a battle for first place in the Little East Conference on Sunday, October 25. Game time at Cressy Field is set for 3:30 pm.

KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State College field hockey team, led by Senior Erin Dallas' (Marlow, N.H.) two assists, defeated the Salem State Vikings 3-1 in Little East play on Wednesday night at Owl Athletic Complex. On the second assist, Dallas broke the school record with her 38th career assist, breaking Kelly Smith's (1997-2000) mark. "Breaking the assist record was a long time coming for Erin," said KSC Coach Amy Watson. "It's a lot harder for her to get assists because she has been playing sweeper for us."

Keene State Slips to #20 in NFHCA Division III National Coaches' Poll
KEENE, N.H. -- The Keene State College field hockey team slipped one spot to No. 20 in the nation in the latest edition of the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division III Coaches' Poll. Fighting off a life-threatening necrotizing fasciitis infection (a rare bacterial infection that can destroy skin and the soft tissue beneath it) just months ago, Erin Dallas of Marlow defied the odds and will return to the Keene State field hockey team this season. Owls’ Perched Atop Little East Field Hockey Preseason Poll
For the fifth consecutive campaign, Keene State College earned at least a share of the top position in the annual Little East field hockey preseason poll after each of the 12 head coaches casted a vote. The Owls received nine first-place tallies and 139 total points to stand alone in the coaches’ survey for the sixth time in the past 11 seasons. Plymouth State University (128) edged the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (127) by a single point for the second seed in the preseason rankings.

Meghan Daly Appointed Framingham State Field Hockey Coach
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Framingham State College athletic department is pleased to announce that Meghan Daly has been named the Framingham State College head field hockey coach. Daly will replace Bob Kelley who led the Rams to two MASCAC Co-Championships and two ECAC Tournament appearances during his five years at the helm. Daly, a 2008 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, was a four year starter for the URI Rams Division I field hockey program.

Basketball served as a backdrop for the College and the Keene community, which came out to support one of their own on Tuesday night. On hand to watch the Owls take on rival Plymouth State, a capacity "Code Red" crowd opened up their hearts and their wallets for Keene State field hockey player Erin Dallas. Making donations in lieu of ticket purchases, as well as through T-shirt sales and a 50-50 raffle, fans showed their support for the two-time KSC All-American from Marlow, who developed a post-surgical infection following an ACL operation in December.

Golden Named Longstreth/NFHCA All-American
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -For the first time since the 2006 season, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team has earned All-American honors. Junior goalkeeper Seana Golden (Somerset, Mass.) has been named a third team Longstreth National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American. Dallas Leads Keene State To 5th Little East Championship
KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State field hockey team now has one for the thumb. The Owls captured their fifth straight Little East Conference Championship and seventh overall title with a 4-0 victory over rival Plymouth State University at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday. SALEM, Mass. – The Keene State field hockey team captured its sixth straight and eighth overall Little East Conference regular season championship with a 1-0 shutout win over Salem State on Wednesday. CENTEVILLE, Mass. - Keene State College junior Vikki Stoessel (Derry, N.H.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Goalie of the Week after leading the Owls to a 3-0 mark. She was also named the Little East Conference Goalkeeper of the Week by the conference office on Monday.Stoessel posted a 1.00 goals against average and a .896 save percentage, while making 26 total stops. CENTERVILLE, Mass. - University of Southern Maine Allison Hill (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was tabbed the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Goalkeeper of the Week after leading the Huskies to a 1-1 record. She also received the regional award for the week ending Sept. 7. KEENE, N.H. – Keene State’s Amy Dubois has been named to the ESPN the Magazine District I women’s at-large Academic All-America team announced on Thursday. A four-year starting midfielder for the KSC field hockey team, Dubois, a health, promotion, and fitness major, also go the job done in the classroom, achieving a 3.94 cumulative GPA. The recipient of Keene State’s scholar-athlete award, Dubois, a senior from Jefferson, N.H., also received Little East and National Field Hockey Coaches academic honors and topped the list of 103 student athletes and student athletic trainers who were named to the KSC All-Academic team.

KEENE, N.H.- Honors keep on rolling in for Keene State's Erin Dallas (Marlow, N.H.) and Alyssa Rowell (Queensbury, N.Y.), on Tuesday, the pair were named to the 2007 All-ECAC Field Hockey team. Dallas, who earlier was named an All-America and the LEC's co-offensive player of the year, had a fantastic first season with the Owls. A first-team selection, the sophomore midfielder had 13 goals, tied for second in NCAA Division III with 19 assists, and a team high 45 points.
