Davidson Named ECAC New England Defensive Player of the Week
GORHAM, Maine – Freshman Marina Davidson
(Windham, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies field
hockey team has been named the ECAC Division III New England
Defensive Player of the Week. It is the second accolade this week
for the rookie defender who also earned Little East Conference
Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday,
September 9.
Davidson helped Southern Maine post a 1-1 week and earn a 1-0
Little east Conference victory over Eastern Connecticut State. The
freshman back came off of the bench and recorded two second-half
defensive saves to help the Huskies register a shutout win over the
Warriors. Both of Davidson's defensive saves came in the final 10
minutes of regulation helping Southern Maine preserve the
shutout.
Southern Maine travels to UMaine Farmington on Wednesday (4 p.m.)
for a non-conference game. The Huskies are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in
the Little East.
