Stoessel Honored By ECAC Division III Field Hockey

CENTEVILLE, Mass. - Keene State College junior Vikki Stoessel (Derry, N.H.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Goalie of the Week after leading the Owls to a 3-0 mark. She was also named the Little East Conference Goalkeeper of the Week by the conference office on Monday.

Stoessel posted a 1.00 goals against average and a .896 save percentage, while making 26 total stops. The native of Derry, N.H. reached double digits in saves in two of her three matches, including threes saves shy of matching her season-high against Southern Maine (12). Stoessel posted her fifth shutout of the season at Bridgewater State College, making all 10 stops in the first half.

Stoessel has allowed two or fewer goals in 13 of her 15 appearances this season, including five shutouts. She has reached double figures in saves four times, including a season-best 14 against Middlebury. Stoessel ranks among the conference leaders in goals against average (5th, 1.32) and save percentage (.835).

Keene State (11-4, 7-0) returns to action at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, when the Owls host Little East Conference rival Worcester State College (9-5, 4-2).
