Benning Banks Womensfieldhockey.com Honor

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Keene State College senior forward Carly Benning (Brewster, Mass.) was recently named to the womensfieldhockey.com honor roll for the week ending Sept. 14 after leading the Owls to a trio of victories. Benning was just one of eight Division III student-athletes in the nation to be recognized by the Web site.

Benning led the high-powered offensive attack for Keene State this past week, registering nine points, including a pair of game-wining goals. The senior striker from Brewster, Mass. found the back of the net twice for a season-high four points in the Little East Conference opening victory against Eastern Connecticut on Sept. 13. Earlier in the week, Benning had a hand in each of the Owls’ markers as Keene State rallied to defeat No. 12 Springfield College, 2-1. She dished out a helper in the 11th minute to draw the visitors even before netting the decisive tally early in the final stanza. Benning has collected at least one point in the past five matches.

She currently sits atop the Little East Conference standings in assists (3), game-winning goals (2), and points (13), while ranking fourth in goals (5). The Owls boast the most productive offensive in the conference circuit, leading the 12-team field in assists (16) and goals scored (23).

Keene State returns to action at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, when the Owls host Framingham State (3-0) in Little East action.
