Dallas and Rowell named to NFCHA All-American teams

KEENE, N.H. – Keene State placed two
players on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA)
All-American team announced on Monday.
Sophomore midfielder Erin Dallas (Marlow,
N.H.) earned first-team honors,
while junior back Alyssa Rowell (Queensbury,
N.Y.) was a third-team selection.
Dallas, the LEC's co-offensive player of the year, has had a
fantastic first season with the Owls. The University of Michigan
transfer recorded 13 goals, tied for second in NCAA Division
III with 19 assists, and a team-high 45 points.
Dallas said it was nice to be considered one of the top players in
the country. It’s a nice feeling to know you’re one of
the top players in the country,” she said. Coming from a
Division I program, the honor tells me that I was still playing at
high level.”
“Erin has been through a lot this year,” said KSC Coach
Amy Watson. "To come back after taking a year off
and adjust to a new team is difficult. The fact that she was able
to do that and perform so well really makes her a worthy recipient
of the honor.”
Rowell anchored an Owls defense that posted eight shutouts this
season. The Little East defensive player of the year had a
conference-best 13 defensive saves and also contributed offensively
with four goals, three assists, and 11 points.
“The honor is special to me because we lost Sarah
Joyce, an 2006 All-American goalie, and I had to move back
to play sweeper this season,” said Rowell. “It’s
not about statistics on defense, it’s about stopping other
team, so I’m happy that coaches were aware of how I
played.”
Dallas and Rowell becomes the school’s 12th and 13th field
hockey All-Americas. Erin joins her sister Nichole
as the only two fist-team recipients. Nichole Dallas earned her
award in 2002.
Keene State (18-6) captured its fourth consecutive Little East
championship and NCAA tournament berth this season.
