Keene State earns top seed in baseball tournament

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. –Keene State College clinched the program’s first outright Little East Conference Regular Season Championship this afternoon, earning the top seed and right to host the 2008 Little East Conference Baseball Championship Tournament. The Owls will host the six team, double elimination tournament at the Owl Athletic Complex, beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The representation of Little East Conference members remains strong in the latest edition of the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Division III poll. Keene State College, Eastern Connecticut State University, and the University of Southern Maine each made progress in the fourth rankings of the season. The Owls sit in the second position, while the Warriors and Huskies are ranked fifth and seventh, respectively.

KEENE, N.H. - Keene State swept a Little East Conference doubleheader against UMass-Dartmouth at Owl Athletic Complex on Sunday. KSC collected 16 hits in a 14-2 win in the opener. Senior Greg Ford (Nashua, N.H.) made a run-saving catch and then picked the save in a come-from-behind 5-4 victory in the nightcap. Winners of 11 straight, the #19 ranked Owls (24-5, 10-1 LEC) set a record for consecutive wins, breaking the previous mark (10) set last season. UMass-Dartmouth falls to 3-25 (1-9 LEC).
